Application of Niobium Pentoxide

Niobium Pentoxide, with density of 4.47 g/cm3 and refractive index of 2.1-2.3, is a high refractive index material between TiO2 and Ta2O5, insoluble in water, insoluble in other acids except sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Niobium Pentoxide is transparent in both near ultraviolet and infrared light. It can be sputtered with Nb target or Nb2O5 can be coated with electron gun and ion source. The optical film with bulk density of nearly 1 can be obtained. However, the pre melting of the material before plating is very important. Nb2O5 is often used with SiO2 to coat multilayer filter, which is mainly used for filter and high reflection film.

Because of its unique physical and chemical properties, such as high refractive index, large optical band gap, good chemical stability and corrosion resistance, niobium pentoxide film is widely used in many fields of modern technology, such as optical interference filter, electrochemical color film and gas sensor, etc.  

ATS produce Nb2O5 since 2007, main specification is sintered granule in purity 99.99%, sizes 1-3mm 3-5mm are normally used, also could be customized.
